Aescripts SVG2AE v1.0 (WIN, MAC): Seamlessly integrate SVG files into your After Effects composition as shape layers with the SVG2AE extension. This user-friendly tool simplifies the process; drag and drop your SVG file, which will be imported as a Shape Layer in After Effects.
Limitations:
- Use only Shape graphics with closed paths.
- The extension does not support gradients, patterns, or unexpanded fonts (unexpanded fonts must be converted to paths in Illustrator).
- No batch or multiple pages file support.
Setup:
- Install easily with the aescripts + aeplugins manager or use the zip installer.
- In After Effects, enable 'Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network' in Edit > Preferences > Scripting and Expressions.
Usage:
- Create a new composition.
- Navigate to Window > Extensions > SVG2AE.
- Select the Timeline panel (Important).
- Drag and drop your SVG file into the SVG2AE extension window.
- Your file will be added as a Shape.
Settings:
- Import as PDF: Use PDF file import if you prefer not to use a shape file. Click on the cogwheel icon and tick "Import as PDF."
- Custom path for a temporary file: If your default documents folder is locked for writing files, set a custom path by clicking on the cogwheel icon.
- Note: The extension won't preserve layer names of the input SVG file.
Version:
- Made using CEP8, it requires a CC 2018+ version of After Effects (15+).
