Here's a breakdown of each LUT:
- 3-Strip: Recreates the traditional Technicolor look, evoking the era of classic films like The Wizard Of Oz and The Sound Of Music. Expect warmer color tones, high saturation, and lifted shadows to provide ample breathing room.
- 4K77: Emulates the aesthetic of the fan project "4K77," which aims to restore the original Technicolor Imbibition print of Star Wars. This LUT also draws inspiration from other films printed in this dye process, such as Vertigo and Mary Poppins. Shadows lean towards green, colors appear more profound, and green and blue tones are cooler.
- 2-Strip: Recalls the vintage red and green look of Technicolor's old two-strip design from the 1920s. Due to the limitations of the process, only red and green colors are processed.
How to Use:
- Ensure that the dynamic range of your footage on your 6K/6K Pro camera is set to "Film."
- If necessary, define your footage's color space transform settings to "Blackmagic Design Wide Gamut Gen 4/5" for color space output and "Blackmagic Design Film Gen 5" for gamma output.
- Set your timeline to "Rec 709 Gamma 2.4."
