FILMUNLIMITED KODAK 250D NEGATIVE FILM EMULATION
The FilmUnlimited Kodak 250D negative emulator replaces the previous 250D Film Matrix emulator, and it's far more precise and editable and gives better results.
HOW DOES THIS COMPARE TO THE FULL VERSION OF FILM UNLIMITED?
The 250D emulation's core is the same as FilmUnlimited. However, FilmUnlimited includes grain, halation, and gate, weave emulators. It also comes with my sharpening system, customized 2383 LUTs, and another negative film stock, Kodak Vision3 500T. There is also the option of using in-camera LUT versions that let you preview the appearance while shooting.
ONE POWER GRADE
If you plan to purchase only one PowerGrade, I'd consider purchasing the Kodak 2383 emulator. If you already have FilmUnlimited, I'd suggest you purchase the standard version since there's already the Kodak 250D emulation, and mixing both is easy.
2383 is the standard for printing film emulates. It features natural skin tones and well-balanced colors that allow for easy use. If you're a fan of shades of orange and teal, It also comes with the cyan push to assist in creating this type of appearance.
TWO POWER GRADES
If you're thinking of buying two PowerGrades, I'd suggest looking at buying 2383 due to the reasons mentioned above, as well as Fujifilm 3521XD. If you already have FilmUnlimited, I'd suggest you buy the Standard versions.
3521XD has a slight increase in saturation when compared to 2383. It also has more intense, thicker colors, especially when the Tints node is turned off. 3521XD doesn't have as powerful the cyan push of 2383, but it's still easy to duplicate the Cyan node to achieve similar results. If you have these two PowerGrades, you are covered for most PFE-style designs.
THE BUNDLE
If you have over two, purchasing all of the PowerGrades in any bundle is recommended.
What is Kodak 250D + Kodak 2393 – DaVinci YRGB Print Film Emulation PowerGrades?
a specific set of DaVinci Resolve PowerGrades that emulate the look of film stocks, specifically Kodak 250D and Kodak 2393. DaVinci Resolve is a professional video editing and color grading software, and PowerGrades is a feature within it that allows colorists to save and apply color grading adjustments, including film stock emulation, to their video footage.
Kodak 250D and Kodak 2393 are film stocks used in the motion picture industry. They have distinct characteristics and color palettes, and some colorists and filmmakers like to replicate their look in digital post-production to achieve a cinematic or nostalgic appearance.
The PowerGrades you mentioned likely offer presets or grading adjustments that mimic the color and texture of these specific film stocks. These presets can be applied to digital video footage to give it the appearance of having been shot on Kodak 250D or 2393 film stock.
