Eric Bennett – “Dark Brilliance” – Low Key Processing Light: In this tutorial video, I demonstrate my handling of high-contrast scenes with intense lighting and deep shadows. I also provide insights into how I review various exposures taken in the field as lighting conditions change and discuss my methodology for selecting the exposures to edit.
Essential techniques showcased include using luminosity masks to target specific areas and enhance mid-tone contrast, color separation, depth, and definition in a non-destructive manner. Additionally, I illustrate methods for simplifying the color palette, enhancing light, improving tonality, adding drama, time blending, removing distractions, enhancing visual flow, correcting lens distortion, and resizing and sharpening images for the web. My workflow is presented concisely and deliberately, making it easy for viewers to follow and implement in their work.
