There are numerous ways of adapting an analog film using pre-sets into the digital realm. VSCO, ReallyNiceImages, Mastin Labs All of them have their own ideas of what a Kodak Portra 400 should look like. We, the analog lovers, are aware that it's all about the interpretation. There's no way to say that a film that looks like this. If the negative film is scanned, it has to be converted to positive, and you can see that there are multiple possibilities of interpretations. Silverfast doesn't have the same neutrality as Vuescan and it is a Lab scanner that can sometimes appear to have the ability to create magic. If you're nodding your head in agreement, then you're either Team Frontier SP-3000 or Team Noritsu HS-1800. Maybe you don't as if you're using a 3F-Scan on a Flextight X5? Classic Lab Classic Lab does not only mimic the film as well as the scanner.
The Scanner
A profile is a simulation of the scanner. The colors and tonal values are adjusted to the right starting point, which provides an ideal basis for the set. This is where the magic of Lab Scanner takes place. This version is inspired by the renowned Flextight X5.
THE Film
The preset is akin to the film and is able to move within the frame that is defined to be created by the profile of your scanner. The presets are all designed to give the best possible analog ambiance with the greatest dynamic range.
The product is compatible using Adobe Lightroom CC (cloud-based Version), CameraRAW (10.3 and above), and Classic CC (7.3 and above). To make use of them together with Lightroom Mobile, you'll need the Lightroom CC or Classic CC running on Windows and OS X.
