POWER-UP YOUR PATHS
The Penpal UI is based on one you've come to know you've, and you'll immediately recognize what you're doing.
Howeveyou'repal does something more advanced and lets you pick Tangents in the same way as points. This means you can drag more than two concurrently, copy one tangent, and then paste it into another.
After Effects snapping and constraining aren't always reliabilist points. In Penpal, pressing shift allows you to quickly limit to horizontal, vertical, or 45o diagonal axes. The cursor will move onto other points and angles of other points, similar to a vector program.
After Effects has always lagged way behind Adobe Illustrator when editing more streamlined paths, this lack of appreciation for shape layers entices us to make intense preparations and awkward and unnatural methods of working around them.
We have friends who don't even use Illustrator in any way and who design everything from scratch using AE with the help of Penpal. We're not saying Penpal will perform all the things Illustrator does (though it can accomplish some things that Illustrator cannot). However, having Penpal within your workspace will require Illustrator less, and maybe not in any way.
